Who we are
My website address is: https://computernik.co.za.
This site’s privacy policy is dead simple.
Comments
If you submit information into a comment box, you’re volunteering information not just to this website, but also to third-parties like Gravitar and WordPress.org.
Obviously if there are no comments, there’s no problem.
I might feel fancy later and enable those. Who doesn’t like internet clout?
Media
Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Of course, none of this will be useful to you because this isn’t that kind of professional outfit, and I might shamelessly plagiarise text and images obtained from shady sources on the internet.
EDIT: I wrote this section before the public unveiling of Midjourney and ChatGPT. So I guess I’ll add that I will shamelessly use AI generated images to make a point as well.
Cookies
There might be cookies that WordPress itself leaves, but I’m not going to track you. I don’t sell advertising space here, and probably never will.
That is unless I go mainstream and forget the fans and go big.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited that other website.
The only exception is Twitter. You’ll never see embedded tweets on here, only images. Elon se ma se poes.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Privacy on the modern web is dead. Deal with it. Hopefully by installing Ublock Origin and Privacy Badger.
Who we share your data with
No-one. Relax.
Data retention and the arrow of time
Not only do I not retain any of your data myself, it turns out that most of the technology we’re relying on for long term storage is actually fragile as fuck and will not see even half a decade of use before decay and bit rot sets in.
The only option we really have is carving words into stone.
What rights you have over your data
I’m not in the business of collecting or reselling data.
Anything you volunteer to the site really is just going to be collecting, somewhere, forever and ever, until the end of time.
Where we send your data
When possible, your data will be shredded by exposure to a magnetar.
